There's a story behind every car........... One Friday evening, Dan received a phone call from BCCSWF member Adren Hance. Adren said that he spotted an "all-original" 1969 Triumph TR6 in the classified ads of the Naples paper. Since the British Car Club had a lunch run planned to Harpoon Harry's in Punta Gorda the next day, Adren agreed to meet with the car's owner on his way to the luncheon and give the car a quick inspection. On Saturday, Adren and his son Trace arrived to the luncheon with good news and better news. The good news Adren said was that the car was a beautiful specimen of a TR6. He described the car as great looking, no rust, the Lucas wiring system was working, and the color was maroon. What could be better than a beautiful TR6 looking for a new owner? Well, Adren was rather excited and he then told Dan that he liked the car so much that "HE" purchased it on the spot. Now, with further confusion setting in, Adren explained that because he had offered to look at the car for Dan, he would step aside and give Dan the first opportunity of purchase. But, if Dan didn't purchase the car, Adren was all set to add it to his collection of British automobiles. The owner of the car, Frank, agreed to allow Dan to see the car on Sunday. Frank had owned this beautiful machine for 25 years and had taken fantastic care of it throughout that time. Frank became quite baffled because Adren had purchased the car, but now Dan was also there inspecting it and talking about making a purchase. Needless to say, they all had a good laugh when Dan explained to Frank how this car craze with two purchasers got started. Frank and his wife were saddened to see the car hauled down the road, but promised to visit the British Car Club website often to see their former car in action. Adren regretted not being the purchaser of such a wonderful car, but Dan is enjoying owning and driving a piece of history. Thank you Adren!
