Brits and Brats

Saturday's Run for the British Car Club of South West Florida had a most gracious sponsor; her majesty The Queen of England.  I won the top door prize at a dinner in honor of Queen Elizabeth's birthday.  It was a fifty dollar gift certificate from a Local British food shop!  I knew immediately what I wanted to do with the prize; let's have a party with my British car friends.

Please understand that I am a novice at hosting any events for our club.  However, I have attended many fun events before and watched closely how things happen.  I made a plan and opened my mouth at the next meeting.  It was easy!  Although many say the hard part is closing my mouth.

We had over 30 members attend with 10 British cars braving the Florida heat.  A beautiful Vineyards Park in Naples, Florida provided enough shade and a breeze to keep everyone cool.  Her majesty provided 10 pounds of Big Ben Bangers for our event!  A "Banger" is a mild pork sausage that will pop when cooked if you do not poke a couple of holes in it first.  Anyone would be hard pressed to tell the difference between a Bratwurst and a Banger.  I chose the name for the event using "Brat" instead of "Banger".  Somehow, "Brits and Bangers" might have given the wrong impression.  "Brits and Brats" was my choice.

Don't think putting together an event for your club is beyond your abilities.  Just open your mouth, have fun, and start your engines!
