RACING
Did you know that a few of the British Car Club members assist the Gulf Coast Autocrossers put on their events? The British Car Club operates the "staging" area during the autocross events on the Buckingham Airfield. This keeps the cars flowing evenly during the race. They also monitor the driver's readiness and their vehicles for safety hazards.
There are also members who are racing in advanced motorsport competition. These races are FANTASTIC to watch!
If you would like to visit during one of the races, email Jerry for more information. There is no fee to watch or take pictures.
Visit the Gulf Coast Autocrossers website for more information on autocrossing in SW Florida.
Hope to see you there!

BCCSWF Club
members enjoy a day at Sebring
October 21st & 22nd, 2006
by Jerry Wilcox
Marji and I drove my '77 TVR up to Sebring to
check out our club members who are SCCA racers: Craig
Disney and Ken Taylor. First thing,
we run across Tom & Karen Brewsaugh and Bill
& Mary Newman. Bill and Tom were adjusting SUs on
Bill's Vintage Spitfire. After we located the cars of Craig and
Ken, we went to the usual pit area at Sebring where an autocross
was in progress.
East Coast member Bill Tripp
was autocrossing his '76 Mini Clubman. Malcolm & Judith
Lawson were driving the Elise. We also saw GCAC
regular Joan Clark in the Z06. Adren
Hance & son, Trace were running the TR6 and 125cc
Cart. Trace was all smiles as he out ran Dad's time.
Saturday evening we ran across a car show at
the Sebring Home Depot. About 70 cars were present. A '65
Morgan and a later Spitfire were among many muscle cars. Henry
Giles is the Spitfire's caretaker. He said he would get
together with us in Ft Myers one day, as he has relatives in the
area.
Sunday brought us back to the track. Bill
Newman used the autocross to tune the bugs out of the Spitfire.
We watched Craig and Ken as they completed both races in their
classes (Vintage and E prepared). Both are preparing more
powerful powerplants for next season. Phil Babcock
was at Sebring, but Saturday and Sunday were over; after Friday
when special rings couldn't keep oil in the crankcase.
This trip was a dry run for a club overnight
event. We need to get an overnighter planned.
